The World is NOT Ending!

We are dealing with an issue at work this morning where our hosting server underwent some maintenance. Because the company that physically has access to the server did not port over all of the rules and hardware attached to the server when they did the maintenance, we are having to work with them to get all of the services for our sites back up and running. This takes some time. Yet all of our time seems to be taken up with clients calling about their email and websites being down. I do understand their frustration, but there is not much that can be done until the network techs finish with their work. We here are frustrated as well as we don't have access to our projects so we are unable to work. Of course having these server issues are of no concern to our clients who still want their stuff done by the deadline.

So here we are, unable to do work and stuck waiting.

Here are some numbers to think about. There are 8,760 hours in a year. If your site was down for 1% of that time, it would have to be down for three and a half days. The average down time for clients being hosted on our company's service is about 3 hours every 5 years. Needless to say a 99.995% up time is pretty reliable. Of course this does not include hardware failures that we cannot control, but even though we cannot guarantee 100% up time, we are pretty damn close.

People! The world is not ending. Your website is down for a few hours. Relax. It will be up again. Just have some patience.
