Canadian Conservative Government are Environmental and Economic Alarmists

According to the Conservatives implementing the Kyoto protocol would devastate the Canadian Economy. One of the things that the Conservatives keep harping on about is that the former Liberal Government did nothing to implement the Kyoto initiatives over the last 10 years. This isn't really the case as it was the Liberals who called for and financed the studies as to the impact of going forward with the initiative. Once the Harper government came to power it was up to them to find a way to implement the ideas set forth. They haven't. Instead they keep saying the Liberals didn't do anything. We the Canadian people have one thing to say to you. WE DON'T CARE! GET IT DONE!

If you can't make the deadlines for the initiatives, too bad. But don't blame it on the other guy. All of Canada's opposition political parties want you to move on the Environment. If you don't make the targets, we aren't going to blame you. 8 months isn't much time. However if your idea is to throw your hands up and say you can't do it, then maybe you should get out of the big people chair and let someone who can.

This morning I watched an interview on Canada AM where Environment Minister John Baird expounded his alarmist view of $195 tax per tonne of carbon which would ruin the Canadian economy. No less than 4 times in the 5 minute interview did he push the blame on 10 years of Liberal inaction on the Kyoto bill. From what I recall (and my memory is a little hazy) I don't remember the Conservatives (or Alliance party or Progressive Conservatives) pushing for the implementation of Kyoto when they controlled the Opposition over the previous 10 years. The NDP and the Green Party from what I remember were the only ones bringing up these issues with any regularity. 2 parties without much political clout when the country is run by a majority government. Where were you when you had the option to push the Liberal government during those 10 years? What? Sorry didn't quite catch that? Oooh! You had your heads up your collective ass with the politics of politics.

GET IT DONE!
